Museums

San Francisco offers a variety of great museum to explore. A great place to start would be at The Academy of Sciences, which is a great place for all ages, and has its own build in rainforest. The Asian Art Museum is a great place for those interested in ancient Asian art and artifact. The De Young Museums has a great collection of American/Americas/Pacific/Africa art, contemporary art, textiles, and costumes. Enjoy a collection of ancient and European art at the Legion of Honor. Finally, enjoy some time with wildlife at the San Francisco zoo.

Academy of Sciences

The Academy of Sciences is a museum of natural history. It's a great place for the all ages, and is educational. The main exhibits include an aquarium, rainforest, and a Planetarium.

The Aquarium exhibits features an acrylic tunnel, where it feel like you walking at the bottom of an ocean of water and being able to look at all the fishes. The Aquarium also features a large coral reef with a variety of different type of colorful fishes make for a stunning view. There also a petting station, where you can touch starfish coral reef and much more.

The Rainforest of the World exhibit is a unique exhibit where it a real indoor rainforest where you are able to walk around in. It is build a 90 feet glass dome that keeps the temperature hot and is made to feel like you're in a rainforest. At the top of the rainforest you will experience butterfly and bird roaming around above all the trees.

The Academy of sciences also features a Digital planetarium, which provides educational shows in a large dome screen projection.They also have special exhibit at times, and overall is a great to come visit. You won't be disappointed.

Asian Art Museum

The Asian Art Museum is pretty much what you would expect it would be from the name. This museum has a wide collection of art and artifact from the major Asian countries. The collection ranges from Japan, China, Himalayas, South Asia, West Asia, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia. The total collection is approximately 18,000 of art and artifacts.The Asian Art Museum is a great place to experience the asian culture in its past.

The de Young Museum has a vast American art collection, which includes painting sculpture and decorative art objects. These art collections are from the ranging years of 1670 to the more modern day. The Museum also showcases work on photography media, and contemporary art work. Textiles and costumes from around the world show case there collection, some example are silk, carpets, kilims, tapestries, and contemporary fiber art. The collection is also include art works from Africa, Pacific, and the Americas.

Legion of Honor

The Legion of Honor has a collection of ancient and European art that are more than 6,000 years old. The European collection has a large portion of French art. It feature a famous sculpture by Auguste Rodin called The Thinker.
